  • Biodigester: 500 litre plastic water tank painted black

  • Inlet & Outlet: 3 inch PVC downpipe with fittings

  • Stirer: 40mm PVC pipe with paddles in a 50mm PVC sleeve

  • Gas collector: Two vehicle inner tubes connected in parallel

  • Equipment: Gas pressure manometer gauge and relief valve

  • Measurement: Temperature, gas pressure and pH

  • To better understand technical elements of AD plant design for maximum biogas production
  • To produce sufficient biogas to test biogas equipment e.g. scrubbing system and a modified LPG cooker
  • To produce biogas for compression into CBG
  • Confirmed AD design elements ( inlet, outlet, stirer, pressure gauge, over pressure system, OLR)
  • Successfully tested modified LPG to biogas stove
  • Generated 100 litres of biogas daily in line with small scale results for this feedstock
  • Produced sufficient digestate for procesing
  • Successfully operated for 5 months
  • Knowledge gained to design the 5m3 AD local plants
  • First locally produced AD plant in Seychelles
  • Successfully demonstrated consistent biogas production from kitchen waste
  • Biogas was optimised into compressed biogas (CBG), a first for Seychelles
  • Successful transformation of digestate into liquid fertiliser.
