INTRODUCTION

The Indian Ocean Research & Innovation Collaborative Network (IORIC) is a collaborative initiative between the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) under the TWENex program. The platform aims to foster research and innovation in the Indian Ocean region by providing information on research programs, funding opportunities, matchmaking services and a forum for dialogue and exchange.

vision

Join us in creating a collaborative ecosystem that bridges research, innovation, and resources. Together, we can accelerate solutions to global challenges.

Objectives

The aim of the Indian Ocean Research & Innovation Collaborative Network is to facilitate collaboration, cooperation, dissemination of knowledge and coordination among research and innovation institutions in the Indian Ocean region, including Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion Island and Seychelles. The platform provides a platform for researchers, innovators, and policymakers to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and work together to address regional challenges and opportunities.

The platform will serve as a hub for research institutes and universities in the Indian Ocean region to connect, collaborate, and form partnerships. It will facilitate the signing of agreements and twinning arrangements between institutions, fostering a network of collaboration and shared knowledge.

The objectives of the platform are as follows:

1. Facilitate knowledge-sharing amongst researchers and innovators: The platform should be designed to enable researchers and innovators to share their knowledge with each other. This can be achieved by providing a user-friendly interface that allows users to easily upload and access research papers, reports, and other relevant documents.

2. Raise visibility of research and innovation institutions: The platform should also be designed to raise the visibility of research and innovation institutions in the region. This can be achieved by providing a directory of institutions on the platform that includes information about their areas of expertise, research interests, and contact details.

3. Promote resource sharing, such as research facilities and equipment: The platform should promote resource sharing among institutions in the region. This can be achieved by providing a database of research facilities and equipment that are available for use by other institutions.

4. Promote collaboration between researchers and innovators with a view to tap into international funding: The platform should promote collaboration between researchers and innovators in the region with a view to tapping into international funding opportunities. This can be achieved by providing a database of funding opportunities that are available for researchers and innovators in the region. A database of researchers and expertise in the region will also be developed. This will include information about their areas of expertise, research interests, and contact details. This database will serve as a valuable resource for institutions looking to collaborate with researchers in the region.
