The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) is a body corporate, owned by the Government of Mauritius, which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities (MEPU) and is regulated by the MARENA Act of 2015. The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency was proclaimed to the Government Gazette of Mauritius No. 49 of 2015. MARENA was set up in January 2016 (Act no. 11 of 2015) to oversee and promote the development of renewable energy in Mauritius.
