Overview
The Rabindranath Tagore Institute (RTI) is a corporate body, set up under the Rabindranath Tagore Institute Act No 48 of 2002. The objects of the Institute are:-
(a) to establish, as a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, a Centre of studies of Indian culture and traditions;
(b) to promote education and culture generally.
The Institute has been operating under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology to promote, consolidate and disseminate Indian Culture and Traditions and furthers the progress of education and culture in general.
The RTI offers a degree level programme of studies in Film Production in collaboration the University of Mauritius. Courses at Advanced Certificate, Certificate and Hobby levels in fields such as Madhubani Painting, Harmonium, Guitar, Bhojpuri Folk Music, Folk Dance, Ceramics & Pottery, Ramayana Chanting and Creative Embroidery and Weaving are also in offer at the RTI.
The Institute aims to prepare students, develop their intellectual abilities and competencies to become lifelong learners and to adapt to new dynamic environments. The RTI provides a diverse range of courses that not only impart practical skills but also nurture intellectual abilities crucial for personal and professional development.
